Next steps

The project team is developing a planning application for works to Brixton Rec this summer. This includes works for the Beehive Place workspace, lighting and shopfront improvements.

Works that do not need planning consent, such as installing power to the markets, will be completed over the course of 2021 and 2022, with the intention of starting as early as summer 2021.

Have your say

We would love to hear what you think to help us refine the proposals. We want Brixton Rec Quarter to be welcoming, inclusive and used by everyone. If you have thoughts on the project please let us know. Feedback received the deadline of 23 June will help us adapt our designs ahead of a planning application.

Share your feedback

We are holding webinars and meetups on site for anyone who wants to find out more about the proposals and speak to the design team:

Webinars

  • Monday 14 June 6.30pm to 7.30pm
  • Wednesday 16 June 1pm to 2pm

If you would like to attend please sign up via Eventbrite.

Meetups

Come and talk to us in person on Brixton Station Road:

  • Wednesday 9 June, 2-4pm
  • Saturday 12 June, 1pm-3pm

Events and workshops

When restrictions allow we will be staging events in and around the quarter to help us further develop the proposals. We hope to hold a volunteer citizen archiving event (’scan-a-thon’) to create a digital archive of the Rec, and will be inviting people to Brixton Station Road to take part in live experiments for elements such as seating and ’playable’ furniture.

We will also be looking at ways to support community-led events in the area and are keen to hear from any local groups who would like to explore this with us.

All events will be advertised here and on Lambeth’s social media channels, you can follow muf on Twitter and Instagram too.
