A large underused storage space in the Rec will be transformed into a new workspace on Beehive Place
The brief for this area is that it must provide affordable workspace, and training opportunities for local people. The current aim is to focus on jobs and training in the areas of science, technology, engineering and maths

As part of this project, muf will design the workspace to a level where it can be occupied – basic interior finishes and mechanical and electrical services will be installed.
The design approach is to open up the facade that looks out on to Beehive Place, bringing in light and a greater sense of security for the street. There will also be views through to the Rec concourse. The windows and doors to the street will be designed to provide privacy for workers inside, while enhancing engagement and visibility of activities – reflecting the history of the Rec as an incubator for young Brixton talent.
