Apply for a personal licence to sell alcohol

A personal licence allows individuals to supply alcohol where a premises licence or a temporary event notice is in force.

Personal licences are now valid indefinitely due to the Deregulation Act 2015.

What you need to know...

  • You can still use your existing licence even though it appears to have expired.
  • You can get your licence updated to remove the expiry date.

You do not have to remove the expiry date, as all responsible authorities are aware that the licence is now indefinite. However, if you still wish to have the expiry date removed from your personal licence card, then we will need:

  • a written request to replace your licence, providing your full name and address
  • your existing licence or an explanation as to why it cannot be returned
  • the £10.50 administration fee (this can be paid either by a cheque or postal order made payable to the ‘London Borough of Lambeth').
