Proposed zone ‘H’ extension and amendments - Croxted Road

Charting the history of the Proposed zone H’ extension and amendments on Croxted Road.

Statutory Consultation, 4 October 2019

What is happening in this area?

We are proposing to extend the Tulse Hill CPZ to include the property Nos. 251 to 293 (odd numbers) Croxted Road.

This CPZ extension is proposed in response to a petition received from residents of Croxted Road who, due to experiencing parking difficulties, have requested the introduction of parking controls. It has, therefore, been decided that the Council will carry out this Statutory Consultation to seek your views on proposals to control parking in your road.

As an extension of the existing Zone H CPZ, it is proposed that the new bays in Croxted Road will operate Monday to Friday, 12 Noon to 2 pm to align with the existing Croxted Road CPZ controls. To maximise flexibility for residents we have been working with Southwark Council to allow Lambeth Zone ‘H’ CPZ parking permits to be valid in bays on the Southwark side of Croxted Road and for Southwark Zone ‘HH’ CPZ parking permits to be valid on the Lambeth side. It is intended that this shared approach could still be adopted in the existing Tulse Hill CPZ regardless of the outcome of this extension consultation.

Having opted for a shared approach for the proposed CPZ extension on Croxted Road, by which both Lambeth Zone ‘H’ CPZ parking permits would be valid in bays on the Southwark side of Croxted Road and Southwark Zone ‘HH’ CPZ parking permits valid on the Lambeth side, we thought it an opportune time to also offer this more flexible approach to your part of Croxted Road as well. It has, therefore, been decided that the Council will carry out this Statutory Consultation to seek residents views on this proposal.

How can I give my views?

A Notice of the Council’s intentions to introduce these measures will be published in a local newspaper (South London Press), London Gazette and posted on lamp columns in the area. Representations for and against the proposals described in this Notice must be made in writing to: Parking Design, Capital Programmes, P.O. Box 734, Winchester, S023 5DG or email cpzconsultation@lambeth.gov.uk quoting reference H CPZ by no later than 25 October 2019.

Objections must relate only to the elements of the scheme that are subject to this statutory consultation.

All representations along with Officers’ comments and recommendations will be presented in a final report to be considered by the Council. This report will set out whether the Council will introduce a CPZ in the area, and if so, which roads will be subject to such controls. The Council is required to give weight to the nature and content of your representations and not necessarily the quantity. Your reasons are, therefore, important to us.

What happens next?

All representations will be analysed and the results of the consultation along with officers’ recommendations will be presented in a report to the Deputy Leader (Environment and Clean Air). Once a decision is made all consultees will be notified accordingly and the decision report will be published on this page.
