Apply for social housing

To apply for social housing in Lambeth (council and housing association homes), you will need to join the housing register. Complete the self-assessment first to see if you qualify.

We receive over 3,000 new housing applications a year, and there are currently over 27,000 people already on the housing list. Each year, we house about 1,000 people. This means that we're not able to offer a home to most people who apply to us for housing, and those that are offered housing will likely have to wait many years.

Who can use this service?

Anyone who has been resident in the Borough of Lambeth for at least two years can apply to join the housing list. If you have not lived in the borough for two years, you may also join the list if:

  • you have left the regular armed forces in the last five years
  • you are living outside the borough in accommodation provided by Lambeth Council
  • you are a council or housing association tenant and you need to transfer to Lambeth due to work.
