The Harder They Come 50th Anniversary Screening

As part of Lambeth’s Windrush celebrations, 2022, we will be celebrating
the 50th anniversary of the film 'The Harder They Come’. The
ground-breaking film co-written, directed, and produced by Perry Henzell,
has been generously offered by the Henzell family to celebrate and honour
Brixton’s Windrush generation and their descendants.

The Henzell Family will be joining us from Jamaica on Saturday the 18th of June for a launch event at the Brixton Rec, including a film screening and Q&A hosted by Chris Salewicz with panellists including Linton Kwesi Johnson.

Taking place at the historic Brixton Recreation Centre, the launch event will
re-activate the space as a central hub for community, engaging audiences
in and around Brixton Station Road and ensuring those who really know,
love and can relate to the film feel welcome at the event.

Following the launch event, Brixton’s venues will host a series of free community film screenings of The Harder They Come from the 18th - 26th June. Find out more by following @windrushlambeth.
