Black Cultural Archives

Black Cultural Archives is the only national heritage centre dedicated to collecting, preserving and celebrating the histories of African and Caribbean people in Britain. It houses a wealth of stories of the Windrush generations for you to explore.

Sounds of the ‘rush are newly digitised extracts from the Windrush oral history collection. The stories provide a window into the rich and varied individual experience of life in Britain for the Windrush generation in the UK.

'The Place for Me: Stories About the Windrush Generation' is a children’s book produced by Black Cultural Archives. It presents 12 moving tales of sacrifice and bravery, inspired by first hand accounts of the Windrush generation. Find out more about the book on the Black Cultural Archives shop.

The Black Cultural Archives also host a programme of events you can get involved with.
