Voting by post or proxy

Voting by post means we will send you a posting voting pack so you can complete your ballot paper at home and return it in the post when elections take place. Voting by proxy means someone you trust voting on your behalf.

Apply for a new proxy vote

If you are not already registered to vote, you must register before applying for a proxy vote. The deadline to register to vote at an election is midnight, 12 working days before polling day. Register to vote online.

To apply to vote by proxy you need to download, complete and submit an application form.

If you'd like to vote by proxy at a particular election, you must submit your application by 5pm on the 6th working day before polling day.

If you have an existing postal or proxy vote, the deadline for cancelling or making any changes to your voting method is 5pm on the 11th working day before polling day.
