Who is a care leaver

We will always see you as an individual, but there are also different groups of care leavers. The group you fall under will determine what level of support you receive from Lambeth’s services.

Aged 16 or 17 and still in care.

Aged 16 or 17 and left care on, or after, your sixteenth birthday.

Aged 16 to 21 (or up to 25 if in education) who stopped being looked after or accommodated in a variety of settings, or privately fostered, after the age of 16, and not on your sixteenth birthday.

Former Relevant

Aged 21 to 25 and still in education or training.

Extension to 25

Under 25 and previously open to the leaving care team under the Children and Social Work Act 2017. You are entitled to request support.
