Report a missed bin collection

Find out how to report a missed bin collection and what we can do about it.

If your rubbish, recycling, food or garden waste has not been collected, you can report it to us as a missed collection.

When to report a missed collection

Sometimes bins cannot be collected on your normal collection day if the collection crew cannot get to your property. This could be because the road is closed or other vehicles have blocked access. Usually, our evening crews will try to collect your waste later.

If your waste has not been collected by the following morning, please report it and we'll reschedule collection for the next working day.

You can only report a missed collection within 2 working days.

If you report it more than 2 working days after your collection day, it'll be collected the following week on your usual collection day.

If the missed collection was not our mistake

We will not return if the missed collection was not our mistake. For example, if your bin:

  • was not left for collection at the front of your property
  • contained waste that should be in a different bin
  • was over-filled, preventing the lid from closing

In these cases, you'll have to wait for your next collection day.

Report a missed collection

You should check your bin collection day before you make your report.

If your recycling has not been collected

Your green recycling wheelie bin can only have items that we can recycle in it.

Our staff will put a swinging tag on your green bin if they believe it contains the wrong materials.

If a tag has been put on your recycling bin, remove the non-recyclable items, then remove the tag.

Your recycling will then be collected on your next collection day.

If your electrical items and batteries have not been collected, it is likely due to the vehicle being full. Please take it back inside and try again next week, when we’ll prioritise your collection.
