Self-isolating households

If you are self-isolating because of coronavirus, you should follow the government’s stay at home advice.

Tissues and cleaning cloths

Households that are self-isolating because of coronavirus, whether confirmed or suspected, should follow the government's stay at home advice when using recycling and rubbish collection services:

  • put personal rubbish like used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths in disposable rubbish bags
  • place these bags into another tied bag and keep separate from other rubbish
  • these bags should be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put in your usual rubbish bin
  • do not take this waste to a household waste and recycling centre

Other household rubbish

Get rid of your other household waste as normal.

It's more important than ever to ensure that recycling is clean and dry and that rubbish bags are all securely tied to prevent spills.

If you're in isolation, or disposing of waste from during your time in isolation, do not visit a rubbish and recycling centre.
