Application fees and payment
Most applications for building regulation approval require the payment of a fee. The fee for your application will depend upon the type of development and its scale.
We publish a list of building regulations fees that detail the fees for some common domestic works. For works other than common domestic projects, we recommend that you email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with a clear description of all of the works that you intend to undertake and their location. Or, call us on 020 7926 1150 for advice on the appropriate fee.
If you do not know the correct fee then you may submit your application without a fee and we will contact you so that you can make payment. Please be aware that this will delay the processing of your application until payment is received.
You can pay your application fee online, by cheque, or by credit or debit card.
To pay online, use the appropriate payment link on the apply for building regulations approval page or on the page relevant to the type of application that you are making.
Payment by cheque
Cheques should be made payable to 'London Borough of Lambeth' and be sent to:
London Borough of Lambeth
PO Box 734
Please write the address of the property and, if you have it, the application reference number on the back of the cheque. This will help us process it quickly and efficiently.
Payment by credit or debit card
You can pay by credit or debit card over the phone. Usually, we will contact you for outstanding payments once we have received and logged your application, however, in the event that this has not happened and you have received an application reference number, then you can call us by phone on 020 7926 1150 with your debit and credit card details.
There are no fees for any work relating to specific disabled needs, for example, ramp access or a disabled toilet.
For larger schemes, we tailor our fees to suit each project based upon the works required. We take into account the quality of the design package, the size and time scale of the project, its complexity, and any repetitive elements of the design. For larger schemes we can also agree a series of phased payments through the lifetime of your construction project.
Our fees are competitive because as a local authority we are not allowed to make a profit.
