Ferndale Low Traffic Neighbourhood Consultation

We’re asking the views of people who live, work and travel in the trial low traffic neighbourhood (LTN). This is because we’re considering making the changes permanent after monitoring of the LTN and found that it has reduced traffic in the area. Please share your views by completing our survey. The consultation runs from 14 February to 20 March 2022.

Background and purpose of consultation

We put in LTNs, which use measures such as traffic filters, to help reduce motor vehicle traffic. With less traffic we aim to improve road safety for all users, encourage travel in more active and healthy ways, support the local economy and make streets nicer places to be, reduce air pollution and improve air quality.

The monitoring data shows that the scheme is clearly meeting its objectives, with 6,000 fewer vehicles each day across the area and cycling up by 55%. Now we want to understand the experiences of those living in, working in or travelling through the neighbourhood regularly.

This will be used along with monitoring data as part of the decision-making process as we explore whether the LTN should be a permanent addition to the neighbourhood.
