If you need to apply for a licence in connection with your business, we are here to help.

Our aim through the pre-application service is to help you:

  • understand how our policies will be applied to your application
  • complete your application correctly and reduce any unnecessary delays
  • identify any specialist advice you may require prior to submitting your application.

Costs

Small application

Up to one hour of consultation - includes advice on the licensing process, guidance on plans and possible conditions. Does not include meetings or site visits. Cost: £125 (ex VAT)

Medium application

Up to two hours of consultation: Includes a meeting, on site if required, and a written report by one officer. Cost: £185 (ex VAT)

Large application

Up to four hours of consultation - Includes two officers, a site visit (if necessary), a meeting and written reports. Cost: £295 (ex VAT)

Extra large events (Category A - of 5,000+ people)

Up to seven hours of consultation - Includes the cost of specialist officers carrying out inspections, giving advice, providing written reports, and a supervising officer overseeing any reports. Cost: £460 (ex VAT)

Extra large events (Category B - of 5,000+ people)

Up to 14 hours of consultation - Includes the cost of specialist officers carrying out inspections, giving advice, providing written reports, and a supervising officer overseeing any reports. Cost £895 (ex VAT)

Extra large events (Category C - of 5,000+ people)

Up to 21 hours of advice - Includes the cost of specialist officers carrying out inspections, giving advice, providing written reports, and a supervising officer overseeing any reports. Cost £1,400 (ex VAT).

What you can expect

You will be given advice from experienced individuals from either Licensing, Public Protection or Police Licensing.

Please note that:

  • officers in attendance will not be able to provide the views of other authorities, such as the fire authority or child protection
  • where this service is used, other authorities will have a legal entitlement to make a representation relating to the application
  • should an application receive representations, the matter may be referred to a hearing - a Licensing sub-committee will consider any representations made on its own merits and will determine the application accordingly.
