Accessibility statement for the waste and street cleansing services website

The wasteservice.lambeth.gov.uk website is run by Lambeth Council. We have made every effort to make this site accessible and easy to use for everyone, no matter what browser you choose to use, and whether or not you have any disabilities.

You should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
  • use the site in plain text format (without styling)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

We aim to make this site easy to understand. If you have difficulty understanding any of the content, please contact us at webteam@lambeth.gov.uk.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Lambeth Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • You can’t skip to main content using a keyboard. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.1 (bypass blocks). We plan to fix this by September 2020.
  • You can’t continue to the next page of a form or submit a form using a keyboard. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.1.2 (no keyboard trap). We plan to fix this by September 2020.
  • The site loses focus when tabbing in a form with an embedded Google Maps location. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.7 (focus visible). We plan to fix this by September 2020.
  • Headings aren’t in logical order in every form. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.1 (information and relationships). We plan to fix this by September 2020.

We are aware of these accessibility issues and are working to fix them. We will fix these issues by September 2020.

How we tested this website

This website was last tested on 20 September 2019. The Lambeth web team carried out the testing, with the help of accessibility testing software Sitemorse.

As the website is relatively small, we tested all pages.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are using reports from accessibility software Sitemorse and following WCAG guidelines to work towards being fully compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria.
